Vladimirskaya Mother of God
The miracle-working icon of the Mother of God descends from Constantinople. On our web-page you can find a replica from the icon which has been resided in Russia from 1155 according to the chronicle. Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky soon transferred it to Vladimir where it got its name from. From 1395, the miracle-working Vladimirskaya icon has been in Moscow. Yaroslavskaya icon of the Mother of God
The icon of the Mother of God, Yaroslavskaya served as a holy image for prayer by the Orthodox princes of Yaroslavl, brothers Vasily and Constantine, who lived in the 13th century. This miraculous icon was much revered in the 15th and 16th centuries. The holiday for this icon is on the 21st of June (new style).

Saints Boris and Gleb
Blessed holy princes and passion-bearers Boris and Gleb are the first Russian Saints. They were the youngest sons of the saint prince Vladimir. The word “passion-bearer” is used relating to those Russian Saints who patiently suffered all the physical and moral agony and death by an enemy’s hand imitating Christ. They were canonized around 1072.
Saviour
One of the most wide-spread iconographic depictions of the Saviour. Pantocrator can be translated from Greek as the Judge. Depiction of the upper part of Christ is very chamber and intimate. The Saviour is remarkably calm, wise and a little sad.
Christmas
This feast day icon is instinct with the feeling of joy and exaltation. In the centre of the icon there is the Mother of God and the Child and the shaft of the Star of Bethlehem descends upon them. A bull and a donkey are warming up the Divine Child with their breath. On the right there are the shepherds who have received the Good News about Christmas of the Saviour of this world. On the right there are the three Wise Men “following the star” with the gifts to for the everlasting Father.
Saint Nicholas
Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra (Minor Asia), Defender of Orthodoxy, Holy Hierarch is honoured both in the East and in the West as a great Wonderworker. He participated in the First Ecumenical Council in 325 AD. Died in 345 AD. In 1087, his relics were furtively translated from Myra to Bari (Southern Italy) where they reside up to these this day.
The Holy Great Martyr George
The Holy Great Martyr George (lat. Saint George) - is a legendary Christian saint who, according to legend, suffered martyrdom under Emperor Diocletian and was beheaded after eight days of martyrdom. One of the most famous stories about his miracles is "The Battle with Dragons". In Orthodox churches he is called George the Victorious.
Saints Florus and Laurus of Illyria
Florus and Laurus are twin-brothers. They were granted the talent to understand the animals language through the Archangel Michael (in the center of the icon). They are traditionally revered as the patrons of domestic animals, particularly horses.
John the Baptist
One of the most honoured Saints after the Mother of God. He started preaching his sermon about baptizing by confession in 29 AD. According to the evangelists he is the immediate predecessor of Jesus Christ. He is depicted on the icon in the ascetic garments in a devotional attitude.
Annunciation
Archangel Michael is an Archistrategos (Commander in Chief), head of the Holy warrior-host of Angels guarding the law of God. The revelation of St. John the Divine narrates about the celestial battle of Archangel Michael with the dragon. As a result the dragon, also called devil or Satan, was precipitated back to Earth.
The Entombment of Christ
This icon describes the evangelic scene of the interment of the crucified Jesus Christ. On the icon you can see pall with the body of Jesus, the Mother of God falling down to it, St. John the Evangelist, secret apostles of Christ Joseph and Nicodemus, myrrh-bearing women.
The Fiery Ascent of the Prophet Elijah
Elijah (Hebrew: Yahweh is my God) was a prophet in the Old Testament. The prophet was taken up alive to Heaven on a fiery chariot as a reward for his ascetic lifestyle and his fiery zeal for the Glory of God. Elijah’s disciple and witness of his fiery ascent, the prophet Elisei (Elisha), is depicted below on the hills, receiving together with Elijah’s fallen-down mantle a gift of prophetic spirit.
